  • Just wanted to re-post this with updated pricing..........

Hi, just wanted to let those of you looking for methanol know that I am a distributor for Sunoco Racing Alcohol (methanol) and can supply it for biodiesel production.

Details: $152 per sealed 55 gal barrel (plus $20 refundable drum deposit), or $140 each for 5 or more barrels.  I can also sell in 5 gallon increments for $15 each (you must supply the container).  At least 99.85% pure.  Must pick up in McHenry, IL (delivery may be available for $75).  If you have questions or to place an order, contact Dan at 815.557.6101 or Dano959_at_ameritech.net

  • thanks for the update. McHenry is a bit far for me tho...
  • Dan,

What is your delivery radius? I will be putting a group buy together for the Fox Valley area in mid-summer here. For an idea of distance, 2.5 hrs north of Milwaukee.

  • Halron (Lubricants division) was selling Methanol for $2.34/gallon delivered as of two weeks ago. That's $128.70/drum and included delivery. They have multiple depots in the state, and as I recall, include one in Green Bay.

  • Thanks eric.

Do you have any contact info, etc.

  • Jeff, Depending on how much you wanted, I could make it up there.  I'd prolly bump up the delivery charge a bit, though.  The pricing that Eric posted is pretty good......  If they deliver at that price, that'd prolly be the way to go.

Just FYI, I am not a distributor and as such I'm not really set up for deliveries.  The delivery charge I have listed is to cover my time and fuel costs, and if you are closer, rather than further, could be reduced (I recently made a delivery for $25).

  • Thanks Dan,

If we get enough people, someone may be able to pick up if they head that way. It's going to take some planning, so we figured mid summer would be enough time. We will see when we get to that point.

  • Dano,

When I go to the Illinois Renewable Energy Association Fair this year, I'll make sure to let the locals know you're source for Methanol and a ?fellow Biodieseler?. Send me an e-mail with contact information and anything else (flyer?) you want distributed.

    Jeff,

I started a new "Wisconsin Supplies" thread here.
