I would love to work on creating an event like that at this end of the country. Lots of companies would jump at the chance to help sponsor and show at an event like that in the right location. MUSIC! These kind of fairs are popping up all over the country now. It's really exciting! We had a group of seven or eight people from Flagstaff come to our event last year and each volunteered for a different aspect of our fair. They took notes and we provided them with as much information as we could about our structure and planning. Now they are starting an event in their area. It's very exciting to be a part of!
When we first started our fair, a group of committee members went to the MidWest Renewable Energy Fair in Wisconsin and gathered as much information as they could too, http://www.the-mrea.org/energy_fair.php. The people that organized that fair were very helpful.
I know the ReDirect Guide publishes lists of events like ours all over the country, http://redirectguide.com. They also provide dates and contact information for each. You may want to contact them and see what's in your area.
We are in the planning process of our 9th Sustainable Living Fair now and just updated our website. Still needs work, but we'll get there. We've got a great group of volunteers from various backgrounds and it's a very supportive environment. Good Luck and hope you accomplish your dreams! Linda Gonzales
