  • hi g6, which are the 2 biodiesel plants that are already in operation? i've only known of Biodiesel Refinery in Lubun- Negeri Sembilan Malaysia - which will only be completed in 2008. pls kindly advise. thanks
  • the 1st bio-diesel plant was tested and commisioned last week. it was done by MPOB and joint venture with Carotino s/b at pasir gudang, johore. Our prime minister will laugh on 1/8/2006.whoever interest? your guys can write in to have visit. good luck!!!
  • Wilmar changed location to Indonesia, 250,000mt, to start in Q1 2007. Does anyone know which of these biodiesel plants have glycerine refinery?

The two major factors to consider to ensure success of biodiesel plant investment (based on Palm oil) is the feedstock price and the diesel price. The worst case scenario is high feedstock price and low diesel price. Does anyone really know what is the combined breakeven price for feedstock (input cost) and diesel (output) to assess the risk of this investment ? As a plantation owner, wouldn't it be better to wait for someone (plant owner) to drive up the CPO price without any huge investment and the associated risks?
  • hi ngchoochai, if you are plantation owner, than u may consider that, but the ROI for the biodiesel plant you will not believe after you lok into it. That's why all this player rush for the production. CPO price is unlikely to go up drastically, as more plantation coming up and the supply eventually will more. Goverment has reserve 4 million ton cpo for biodiesel, thats figure is realistic ast this moment for the world consumption. if the europe start applying the B10 standard, then the senarion will change. I would said the breakeven point will be around quite high. if you want to know more email me.
  • Has anyone thought about the glycerol output from biodiesel plants? I have been told that the glycerine output of a biodiesel plant is about 10 percent of its biodiesel production. That is if it's a 100,000TPY biodiesel plant, its glycerine output could be about 10,000TPY. At a time when the glycerine market is awash with crude glycerine, what impact could this mean for the refined glycerine market? Another question: What impact do you think the falling price of crude oil will have on the biodiesel market? Crude saw sub-$60 levels yesterday and experts predict further fall. Can biodiesel preserve its attractiveness in such a situatioin? SIKUTTICKAL
  • I was told that MPOB has a chart that shows the minimum price of Crude oil for biodiesel to be feasible. The same chart also shows at what CPO price biodiesel is feasible given a crude oil price. Does anyone has this chart? Thanks
