rgus is the world’s largest independent provider of global energy price assessments and market analysis. Many of the Argus prices are widely used as benchmark by market participants in physical and swap contracts. Started in December 2007, Argus also provides daily fob price assessments for palm oil methyl ester (PME) meeting European EN14214 specifications loading from Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. These are daily price assessments, in response to requests from the petroleum and palm biodiesel industry, to reflect and incorporate the daily fluctuations in global oil and feedstock prices, as well as to mirror Argus’ daily biodiesel price assessments in Europe. We have been providing price assessments for a range of biofuel components in European markets since January 2007. As the popularity and demand for biodiesel increases, Argus is launching a new biodiesel daily report in February 2008 detailing the latest trades, bids and offers occurring in the energy industry’s hottest and fastest growing market. Argus Biodiesel report will provide detailed coverage of the latest developments in the largest traded market for biofuels and how European demand is reacting to global supply. In conjunction with the launch of the Asian PME assessments, Argus is holding its first Biodiesel Trading in Asia conference in Singapore on the 3rd April 2008 to help further develop the Asian biodiesel market. This is the first conference specifically designed to focus on the Asian biodiesel trading market and the issues that will drive east-west biodiesel trade. Rather than focus on the science or manufacturing of biodiesel, this conference aims to bring together major buyers from Europe and the U.S. with suppliers from Asia, as well as the intermediaries – brokers and shippers – who tie the trading system together. Argus’ Biodiesel Trading in Europe event last year attracted over 100 senior executives from all parts of Europe and beyond.
