VW Routan - A Volkswagen Minivan! Now, where's the diesel?

VW used the Chicago Auto Show to unveil their new minivan, the Routan. The van, built with Chrystler in their Windsor, Ontario plant, is set to be released for the 2009 model year. There's a fairly high probability of a diesel Routan. I'd love a TDI Routan, personally.

From the auto show.

2009 VOLKSWAGEN ROUTAN: Volkswagen of America unveiled the Routan, an all new seven-passenger minivan, during a media event at the '08 Chicago Auto Show. VW says the name Routan is derived from the word “route” and the suffix “-an.” Also, the vehicle will share underpinnings with Chrysler minivans and be assembled at Chrysler LLC’s plant in Windsor, ON, Canada. Check back by Feb 8 for additional information and images.

This should be a fairly painless diesel application. Chrysler uses the VW TDI engine in their Euro bound Calibers and Patriots. The time tested Chysler minivan would seem to be a logical choice for those needing 7-8 passenger capacity and wanting to burn biodiesel. Can you wait for it Nate? :-)

If I don't get what I'm asking for my Jetta wagon, I just might hold on and wait.

That thing looks like a cross between a Toyota Sienna and a Honda Odyssey.

(Not a bad thing!)

I own a Sienna & love it so if this thing is anything like it, it should be nice.

The rear looks like a Sienna, the front looks like the Honda.

The sides look a lot like a Sienna.

Man, that's amazing how much it looks like the Toyota & Honda though.

Sweet looking!
