Idea [I] Where to get biodiesel in Oklahoma

Please use this forum to list locations biodiesel can be bought. If you have other info, such as hours, price, address, web site, etc, please also list it. There are a pair of fairly comprehensive lists here: http://www.biodiesel.org/buyingbiodiesel/retailfuelingsites/default.shtm and http://afdcmap.nrel.gov/locator/LocatePane.asp

Biodiesel can be purchased in the Oklahoma City area from Hampel Oil Distributors, 1037 SE 26th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73129. Their phone number is 405-672-6000. Unfortunately, the smallest amount that can be purchased from them is a 55-gallon drum and so far I have had 3 of the 55-gallon drums delivered to my house. It is sold as "Soy 100 Diesel Additive" so they charge sales tax on it instead of road tax.

Re: Where to get biodiesel in Oklahoma

I purchased some a couple of weeks ago, and the 55-gallon drum was $176.00 plus sales tax of $14.74 bringing the total to $190.74 which works out to $3.46/gallon. Pretty expensive! I think of it as an additive so I don't mind the expense so much, but I am looking into building an appleseed processor. I received girl_mark's book in the mail the other day and have been looking at www.localb100.com lately to get ideas for the project.

You might check here for supplies http://www.b100supply.com/home.html As of now, I don't know anyone in the OKC area who is actually making biodiesel, although there very well may be someone. I have been talking to a few people lately about making an appleseed processor, and I think someone will have one going before the end of the summer.

Glad I found this forum. I plan on having an appleseed running by the end of the summer. Right now I am collecting the hardware. I have a customer that is going to assist me in this. He told me that if I am serious he is too. We will see.

ADTMan, have you started your processor yet? I have decided to go ahead and build mine also. I already have the pump from harbour freight and some of the valves. I'm currently looking for a 50 gal water heater at a good price. Where are you located?

I am almost finished with my 2nd batch. The first was from 25 gallons of oil and this is from 30. I am still making my equipment but I am about there. Trying to finish my drying/filtering barrel now. I bought methanol at Biotech products for $1.95/gallon and have ordered the NaOH from Mid-America Chemical at $40/50 lbs bag. I hope this helps. These prices help bring the end price down.

I contacted Hampel Oil Distributors today and was quoted $220 per 55 gallon barrel...a bit more than i expected. That's $4.00/gal! Does anyone know of a cheaper source in OKC, or in OK for that matter? Anyone know why the relatively drastic increase? Appreciate any input! Thanks, Mike

You also have to pay sales tax on top of the $220.00. They definitely are not passing along the biodiesel tax break, and I think they are charging alot for transporting the stuff down here from Kansas. I'm thinking about loading up some 5-gallon containers and driving to Distribution Drive in Dallas to pick some up and refill my 55-gallon drum. It's alot cheaper down there. It's a lot easier to fight for your principles than it is to live up to them Two TDI's burning the bean!

    Kelly,

Where are you in this process? I've seen others reply that they were in the process of building/co-oping for the production of biodiesel. Is there any groups that are up and running? If so, please share your journey. I live in Lincoln County and would be interested in purchasing if the mix is 5% biodiesel (B5)--that's what VW recommends if you choose not to use standard diesel fuel.

Does anyone have ideas on how we as the OKC metro can mass produce this in a co-op fashion? I'm new to diesel, new to owning a TDi Jetta, and new to biodiesel. This sounds exciting! Any info you can share is most appreciated.

Where to get biodiesel in Oklahoma?

we're looking for a home producer or a retail site in OKC; we have a 1981 VW dasher with old, grumpy seals in the injector pump... which means we either pay $400 for a seal rebuild or run B50 or better in it. otherwise a wonderful ride. my husband is coming to OKC for work and we need to find a source before he goes. thanks for any info you can give us....

Re: Where to get biodiesel in Oklahoma

    To all of you interested.

Here is a link to a new website. It is run by us at the University of Central Oklahoma in the Motor Pool. We're making biodiesel from WVO gathered from campus resturaunts. We're not selling anything, promise. We built this website for the local people here in Oklahoma looking for a source of information for LOCAL people making biodiesel.

Please feel free to stop by and take a look around.

All of the information is free and we encourage your feedback.

We are linked to the RSS feed from BiodieselNow and this is a great source of information, but we are local guys catering to local people!

We have tons of info on there.

     Thanks!
