I have an 07 Dodge Ram 3500 with 5.9l Cummins Turbo Diesel.
I have been using B20 fairly regularly since new and now have over 10,000 miles on the truck.. I have tried B100 a couple of times. Both times I fill up with B100, I still had about 5-7 gallons of ULSD in the 34 gallon tank. (I fill from a commercial Bio-Diesel manufacturer/supplier, not garage made) I filled up and drove about 5 miles home for the night.
The next morning, I start the truck and clouds of white smoke billows out the tail pipe and engine idols rough. I wait a few minutes to warm up, but still billowing white smoke, I drive off and after a couple minutes the smoke goes away. Same thing the next morning. I top it off with ULSD and no more white smoke.
This happened both times with what might end up being B75-B80. Does anyone else with a 5.9L CTD billow clouds of white smoke until the engine is up to temp? What could be the cause of the white smoke? What can I do to prevent it?
