Natescape,
One of the hottest areas in the stock market today is alternative energy. What they said is what an aspiring energy company should say to gain creditability. They did a good job.
Whether this is the real deal or a scam? Who knows? My feeling is that they are sincere, but I know nothing except what is in their PR.
Toward freedom,
Bobby

Also, the wording/terminology they use is somewhat odd. Maybe it's because I'm more 'right-brained' I can intuitively pick these things out, but the word 'biocrude' seems a bit odd to use with algae. Biodiesel, algae-oil, but 'biocrude'? Huh? Who uses that word? Companies like USSE that's what. Manhattan project? Very poor/sparse website for a modern-day manhattan project,
Some people are waay too trusting, how can you watch that and not be skeptical.
250 million gallons was the total biodiesel production in the entire U.S. in 2006, and they plan to produce 100 million gallons by 2010? This *1* small company plans to produce nearly half of ALL current U.S biodiesel production by 2010? Give me a break man!

Matt,
I would think that the term 'biocrude' was used to equate their proposed marketplace. Akin to the marketing plan of 'the other white meat'. And because the world runs on crude oil now... what better term to use than bio-crude to explain the size and depth of their target marketplace.
There is a fine line of a start up between overpromising and underpromising. Overpromise = more potential but more likely to crash and burn once 2010 comes around they still got nuthing but green slime in beakers. Underpromise and no one wants to invest in you.

Hi Froggy, This is off topic but I'm curious about what you say at the bottom regarding selling butter. Being in Wisconsin, do you also make cheese and sell as well? Do you also have a possible web site or information on your products and sales? I love to cook and I like the natural cheese, butter, vs the chemically processed imitation "junk" on the market. My Grand parents had a 100 acre farm and lived off the land until they reached late 80's age. I have my opionions on the natural foods vs the diet foods. Anyway thought I might inquire.
Thanks
Patti Nicely

Hi Patty,
Its a play on the 'butter not guns' saying. And being from Wisconsin and a pragmatist-pacifist, its an inside joke. I would agree with everything you just said about 'natural'. Its a big push for me to move people back onto the land. Its why I dispize cheap oil so, cheap oil makes cheap chemicals and gaz which makes bad, processed food. Cheap oil allows for mega farms which sux for everyone involved, its just they all dont know it.
We have plenty of clean dairy (other) products in the state. Maybe Marc and yourself can take a drive up and come visit me and my lab, tho I would recommend in the summer.

I whole heartedlyagree with what you are saying. Thanks for the invite. We might just take you up on it. Believe it or not Marc is in agreement with what you have said in recent posts. Though he has a much more positive outlook about algae oil, but he found what Millenium Renewables had proposed to him, to make alot of sense. What they wanted was to purchase algae cake not oil, and they told him that they could process virtually anything into oil. Even though the price they offered is still under negoations, we could see great advantages to this idea. Therefore; it's entirely possible that a profitable and secure business can be developed by growers of algae without having to deal with the complexities of oil extraction. Sorry about the butter thing, I thought Wisconsin, Butter, Cheese, Dairy..... My mouth was watering. Crap..Oh well....... Anyway as I was telling you my Grand Parents had a 100 acre farm, they lived off their lands. It's a long story, but it was like a fairy tale when I was a kid. I couldn't wait for the weekends because I knew we were going to my Grand Mother's and it was one adventure after another. Not ever a boring moment, even in cold, wet, rainy, or snowy weather. I miss those days of gravel roads, ground fed springs, feeding the deer, pigs, cows, goats, chickens. I'm a true Tennessean, but unfortunately the family farm was sold..... Isn't that horrible. Last I heard, it was sold to a land developer, and you don't want me to go there on that topic. I have my opionions about our farms and where we're going with that in the near future. We're not only seeing this happen but are experiencing our own negative impact of rampant developments around our areas. Anyway take it easy and sorry about the cheese thing.

Do me a favor and take up this question at the next board meeting...
Which is more profitable and available today, let the algae bio process the fixed energy into oil or let modern man process massive biomass into biooil (or some other form e')?
I got another q if there is time at the meeting...
Which is more profitable and available today, let the algae bioprocess high lipids or grow massive amounts of algae as feedcrop and brew up the poop into biooil (or some other form of e')?

I think this song by Greg Brown will offer a look back, you need to blow the $.99 @ iTunes for this particular track, 13:47min one.
And just to add to this comment, I heard a few times over the past year whereas people where talking about bringing back 'canning' skills as buy local and transport becomes too expensive.
