    biodiesel {i'm so confused}

    Just as the rest of the country i'm concerned with the price of diesel fuel,i own a construction company with a small fleet of trucks and equipment.I have been reading for months now on how easy it is to make your own bio diesel.lol.I have several questions and dont know who to trust.The companies selling the home processors all say thiers is the best but which one is and why.Is this something i can really build on my own cant find a good set of plans anywhere most are just a picture of somebody elses processor.I can build dang near anything but i want to understand the process i live in west virginia and i'm not aware of anyone around here thats doing this.Any help at all would be greatly appreciated thanks, jeff

    I made my system from scratch. I do not have any welding tools, but I can be clever in getting things to work, (see my avatar). My reactor consists of barrels from the car wash, (they give them away). Some old motors and pumps from equipment my employer was throwing away, hoses, 120 volt heater element, air pumps, some fittings, extra buckets. Over all I spent in the vacinity of $100- $125. I make my 30 gallon batches, since the end of  the summer I have made 600 gallons and have ben heating the house. Once I figured out furnaces and how set them I have not had too much trouble. I am lucky in that I have a good supply of veg oil, I use KOH as it seems to be a bit more environmently freindly. If I do not wash my bio I can make 30 gallons a day. If I wash and then dry it takes a bit longer but eventually I could get to that same level. When I started I was making product for about $.80-$1.00 per gallon. With the increase of Methanol pricing I am at about $1.50 per gallon. That is a lot better than paying Connecticut prices of $3.20 or more for home heating and $3.60 for pump delivered diesel.

    With the quanity of fuel you will need I would suggest you look at the BioPro. The payback time will not be too long and you will be up and running quickly.

    The big thing here is you need to make sure of your oil supply and how reliable it will be quanity wise. You can't make bd without it and if you are spending alot of time collecting it will dampen your bd making.

     The other thing is a methanol supply and a good price for it.
