Re: Hands On Homebrewing Workshop- SF Bay Area - April 5
In another thread, Steve said this and asked:
"Hi Andrew,
Looks like a great class. Do you show how to do the 3/27 test ? What do you use to get it to 67 or 68F ?
Have you make a video of yourself doing the 3/27 test ? I would go
to your class just to watch you do and explain your take on the test !
:) I am way on the other side of the country ! :(
Thanks, Steve" Steve, Yes, I do focus on 3/27 and do a side by side test with my GC tested samples for comparison. I use a jar inside a tupperware full of water that has been adjusted to temp. If the air is cold, I start 1 degree warm, like 68-69F and if it warm, (above 75), I start 1 degree cold, like 66-67F. That way if the is any drift over the 30 min., I end up at the right place. I also show how the batch progresses by taking samples during the run and testing them side by side. It is nice to see how a batch progresses over time. No video yet.
Thanks for the the kind words. Andrew

Re: Hands On Homebrewing Workshop- SF Bay Area - April 5
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the tips ! :)
The last time we did one I thought it was right on 67F. Greengirl said no it reads 68F. I looked again and it looked like 67F to me. Greengirl said 68F. So I posted the test at 68F.
Getting it right on 67F was the hardest part of the test.
I am going to try your trick ! :)
Thanks, Steve
