Concise question. Concise answer -- YES.

Is there any side affects to this, do you have to make any changes to the engine/ fuel system to run 100%biodiesel? Are there any long term affects to the engine.

Yep. Quite a bit. No problems whatsoever, minus when my old Passat got a clogged fuel filter because the biodiesel cleaned out 100k worth of accumulated petroleum diesel junk.

Re: B100 Has anyone run 100% biodiesel in their car or truck?
The long term effects are increased engine life, superior drivability (it'll run smoother because it has a more complete combustion process and has better lubricity), less smoke (and what smoke you'll get will be light gray, not black), and a proud sense that you're supporting your local (or national) economy.
If the car or truck is old, you will need to keep a spare fuel filter around, as the biodiesel will clear out your system. A low blend (like b20) won't really do it, but b100 will clean the system in a couple of tankfulls and your fuel filter will clog. This is a good thing.

Re: B100 Has anyone run 100% biodiesel in their car or truck?
old300D,
Regarding your mention that you've run B100 in an '05 Liberty, I've got an '06 Liberty CRD, and was wondering what your experience has been with the B100. I've read about some of the hose and gasket erosion problems that can occur in an engine if you run B100. Have you seen any similar effects in your vehicle? Wondering if there's any source out there for conversion kits if so.
Thanks,

Thanks,
I just got the Liberty last fall, and have only run B50 in it so far. When I have addressed the issues with it's fuel system (needs priming, no lift pump) I will be putting B100 in it. From what people say about the newer diesels is hose and gasket problems are only problems with older cars. I have replaced the fuel lines in my Mercedes with viton and that was it. No filter plugging, no leaks anywhere, and I've put over 30k miles on it running B100 most of the time.

Re: B100 Has anyone run 100% biodiesel in their car or truck?
Yes Sir,
I have run 100% bio-diesel in a GMC 6.2 liter diesel,,a Dodge turbo Cummins diesel and a Forg diesel tractor. It works great ,no engine modification either.I run 100% all spring, summer and fall, and in the winter months here in northern Mi. I run a mix of 20% bio when it gets down into the low 20s and the teens. Michiganbiofuel.com
