If you make your own bio, be really careful to get the OK from whomever's giving you your grease, or you could end up like this poor guy. Article here.

Nevada man arrested for allegedly stealing grease for biodiesel fuel

A Nevada man was booked in Santa Clara County Jail late Tuesday afternoon when he was allegedly spotted removing grease from a grease trap at a local restaurant, reportedly to convert into biodiesel fuel.

David Richardson, 49, was spotted by the owner of San Jose Tallow, according to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing. The owner, who had heard that grease thefts had been occurring in the area, first saw Richardson in a three-axle, 5,000 gallon truck similar to the kinds used to empty out porta-potties.

Richardson was in the area of a business San Jose Tallow's owner has a contract with and the owner followed Richardson to the Burger King restaurant on Monterey Road, Swing said.

About 2:40 p.m., the owner reportedly saw Richardson using a hose and a pump on the truck to remove the grease from an outside outlet, police said. The owner then called police.

"The tank of the truck was half-full," Swing said, "so it appears that he may have been taking grease from other places."

The truck was registered in Nevada to a company that provides grease removal services to restaurants, he added, and a CHP officer reported seeing the truck in the area yesterday.

We got hit last week. They stole about 50 gallons.

Tony made a real nice locking lid so it won't happen again.

It was sucked dry so it looks like a pro job. The drums sitting about 15 yards away belong to the big guys.

They are empty too. There is a camera on them but we have not checked.

The stolen grease is on its way to Europe ?

P.S. If you are trying to find places to get WVO you could mention that the big guys are sending our biodiesel over seas.

They might want to help the homebrewer and not the greedy big guys that are in it just for the money !

P.S.S. Few homebrewers have 5000 gallon trucks ! Huh?

The title of this thread seems to insinuate that homebrewers are the dishonest thieves out there stealing WVO. I thought a "homebrewer" was a small time, hobby type of producer that makes a few gallons at a time for his own use. Am I wrong? If not, I dont think it's fair to cast a shadow on homebrewers based on this guy. Anyone with a 5000 gallon collection truck is hardly just making a few gallons at a time in his garage or shed! This guy may not have an official, legal biodiesel production company, but he certainly doesn't seem to be a homebrewer!

Oh, I didn't mean to besmirch homebrewers. I more wanted to warn them that they need to make sure they're careful where they get their oil and that they've OKed it with that oil producer.

Clearly, this guy's not a homebrewer.
