    Spirulina platensis

I am longtime peruser of this forum but I have a question that is unrelated to oil production.  I am looking for a live culture of Spirulina platensis for another project of mine but I am having a difficult time finding cultures online.  Ive been to the UTEX website but I am not down for paying 70+ bucks for a small culture.  Does anyone know where I can find an inexpensive source for this species?  It needs to be platensis and not major or one of the other species.

    Thanks

Marc sells large samples for $30.  Unfortunatel, he doesn't list spirulina.  Yo might talk t him and workup a deal.

    Re: Spirulina platensis

I do carry lots of spirulina i dont list it because the lipid content is pretty low but it is the premium food algae as well a when properly stressed and put in an inert gas atmosphere it will p[roduce hydrogen instead of oxygen, one of the gas used for this" living fuel cell"is argon and it needs to be starved of sulphur.  Oak ridge Natl labs has a lot of stuff going on in this area.

we grow lots of it and have grown it on a large scale in mexico in my reservoir on my ranch in fact it was the first algae i grew.. we maintain thirty gallons of spirulina at all times.
