Today
I wanted to find a way to get rid of this old unwashed biodiesel I made well
over a year ago. Well I pop the lid and smelled the methoxide right away.
Anyways, I got this free old kerosene heater that was empty last winter so I decided
to throw the fuel in there. I used it a few times but all in all the smell of
kerosene can be nasty. I’m happy that this old biodiesel burned nicely. I'm
sure the methanol in the fuel aided the burn.
Truly
this has made me get on topic and actually do something with it. I’ve been at a
stalemate this last year with starting my own processing. With fuel prices only
going up, I need a diesel motor to truly start the lifestyle. Running diesel
engines in generators, heaters, and general transportation excites me in a very
odd way. Energy self-sufficiency always has.
Whoever has the means to live a biofuel lifestyle is
lucky. For a guy like myself obsessed with energy as a whole, I’m jealous.
