    BtL Refinery

I have some family ties to people in the forestry industry in Argentina; the plantation is producing quite some wood residuals (from cultivated woods only!!). In order to make better use of these I am privately working on a feasibility study to invest in a fast pyrolysis plant in Argentina in the scale of 200.000-300.000 annual tons of Bio Slurry. The feasibility study focuses on the process which being developed at the “Forschungzentrum Karlsruhe”, a German Think Tank and research center. I am quite at the final stage of the study; however, I am still struggling to get a panorama of companies that could be potential buyers of Bio Slurry.   Does someone know whether there are already some BtL Refineries using Bio Slurry as feed stock??

One may want to check with the following companies:

    1.  Neste Oil in Finland. I think they have or are looking at doing this.

    2. UOP.  http://www.uop.com/refining/1000.html  They have released information about using bio oil in a oil refinery.

    3. Dynomotive has worked with this.

Also, I think forum member Wee Willy has a process for doing this. Then you would be the refiner.

Please keep us informed. No matter  what is decided. Good luck.

Hi Kai. Welcome to the site. I think perotter covered it pretty well. Please keep us informed as to what you find out... it could prove to be a really valuable lesson for other folks in similar situations.

Best energies might also be on the list.

I would also like to recommend that BTL be changed to B2L.
