Anyone running a 2004 Honda Civic 1.7i on Biodiesel?

    Hello,

I'm thinking about running a 2004 Honda Civic 1.7i on Biodiesel. I've talked to quite a few people (and scanned a few websites) and heard that some cars run well on Biodiesel depending on their fuel injection, etc. Has anyone had any luck with a Civic? I've read loads of testimonials on other vehicles, but nothing on this type of car.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Peter

Welcome to the site, YankeePete. Is this a gasoline powered car? If so, it's not going to run on biodiesel.

It's a Diesel. I've seen testimonials on several VW's, Fords, etc, but nothing on Hondas. Any help?

There is a recycled chip oil biodiesel distributer near my home in the UK and the owner says that it works in 90-95% of engines.

If I were to try biodiesel and it didn't agree with the engine, how difficult is it to switch back? I'm keen to try, but have a few niggling questions.

    Thanks!

Ahh. I was confused because I'm on the left, non-dieseling, side of the Atlantic. Angry

You should be able to run biodiesel in there with no problems whatsoever. There is no conversion necessary, and if you have any problems, you can always switch back with no issues. One of the beauties of biodiesel is that you don't need to commit to the fuel... if you're running low and there isn't a station that sells bio nearby, just fill up with regular diesel.

The only possible issue is if you have a ton of miles on the car already, in which case the biodiesel may clean out your fuel system and leave you with clogged fuel filter. This is a good thing! It's ridding your system of the accumulated junk of running petroleum diesel all this time.

Good luck! Tell us how it goes.
