Re: Biodiesel home brewing in the Houston area

I have a 300 gallon industrial plastic container. I am in the Clear Lake City / Webster area. I don't have a place to put it at this time and I need to move it from where it is in the next few days. Is there anyone in the area that needs a tank for a coop that I can supply? Is there anyone in the area with an existing coop that could use an extra tank? Paul Humason phumason@ev1.net H= 281-488-5980 W= 281-332-0363

I live in the DFW area, but I make daily trips to Houston to deliver auto parts Monday thru Friday. I have already filled up once at HoustonBiodiesel with B99 a couple weeks ago. I was driving a white F350 crew cab then. Now I drive a Dodge Sprinter Van. I'm hoping to have one of the Airport rental car places on my auto parts route this week, so that I can again swing by and fill up on biodiesel. 2003 F350 7.3 Powerstroke plantruler@hotmail is my email and paypal address.

Looks like there are a lot of people in the SE Houston area. I'm another one. I really need to get into this. How likely are we to find available WVO supplies?

Re: Biodiesel home brewing in the Houston area

I am interested not only in homebrewing, but also developing automation for the systems. I have 22 years background in electronics, controls, and instrumentation: it's fairly straight forward for me to design a system. The hard part is designing one that is easy on the pocketbook, reliable, industrial duty, and can be put together by anyone else wanting to homebrew bioDiesel. I live on the SW side in Alief, so perhaps we should have an informal get together some time just to meet everyone. I am currently building a pilot system to use for the automation development. It will be able to process up to 1 liter at a time, but it should be enough to validate the system. End result will take WVO at one end and spit out BD on the other end automagically. Auto titration, auto methoxide proportioning, auto methanol recapture, auto glycerine refining, auto everything (eventually). But, each part should be modular. If John Doe only wants a wash controller, no prob. Each part can work by itself or when connected to each other automatically team up and work together. If this isn't a coop project, I don't know what is! Im going to give Chris at Houston BioD a visit myself and take a look at the setup there. -Big Jim in Houston- "6 drops of ye essence of Terra, 5 drops of sin ester sauce"... Houston Biodiesel only sell comercialy made bio-d. They don't produce what they sell. They only have a small setup for doing the classes they do. 2004 6.0L PSD CC/SB FX4.

Although I do not yet own a diesel vehicle, I am interested in purchasing one soon. I am a real estate agent. I put a lot of miles on my car and need something that is cheaper to drive. I am also a beer and wine homebrewer so I figured why not biodiesel as well? I'm a car guy and I may have a fairly good source of good wvo lined up. I am working on it. If I can secure a good source, I'll let everyone here know about it. I live on the north side near Willowbrook but also am in the Clear Lake area on a regular basis.

I am interested in joining a group or co-op that would allow me to deliver used oil for a periodic allottment of B100. I need 15 gallons a week, but could definitely deliver more oil than that. My phone number is (281) 303-6056. Please call. Thanks, David.

Re: Biodiesel home brewing in the Houston area

Was a co-op ever formed in the Houston region? I work at a non-profit environmental group in town and have been contacted numerous times by establishments who have waste vegetable oil for sale or donation and while I've been able to connect them with individual home brewers, I'd like to begin formulating a more formal network. I'd appreciate knowing if something like this is already in place and if not, whether others would be interested in helping formulate a co-op or a loose network of restaurants and home brewers. Thanks.

     Hi there Charles,

Did you ever find a more formal network for dealing with wvo disposal/sale requests. I am interesting in receiving some WVO in large quantity and wanted to know if you were still receiving such requests.

    Good day,

    Leigh

Re: Biodiesel home brewing in the Houston area

Saw your post from 2007 on Biodieselnow forum.    I am a home brewer in League City and need 55 gallons per month of vegetable oil to meet my needs.  If you run across any restaurants / people with waste veggie oil in the Clear Lake/Kemah/League City/LaPorte/Friendswood area,  I would appreciate it if would steer them my way.  I have clean drums/totes or 5 gallon pails that I can set up and service for them to make it easy.  I also set up booths at school science nights to educate people on biodiesel and have helped several student do science projects on Biodiesel this year.
