    Dallas area newbie git together......

I thought I'd post a new thread about Dallas area newbies get together. I've got a couple of people interest in meeting and discussing all sort of junk. If your in the area, you welcome to attend. It's going to be at Bone Daddys on 75 and 635 at 11am August 5th. Lets meet up at the bar and go from there. I'm know I'm missing something. Uh well, hope to see everyone there. Eugene 98.5 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 24v. I bleed b100.....

There is a correction on the location. Bone Daddy's is located at 75 and Spring Valley not 635. It's north of 635. South west corner. Sorry about the brain fart. Eugene 98.5 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 24v. I bleed b100.....

Blacksmith, Sorry I guess I missed ya. I was at the bar. I had some biodiesel board sticker so people can see. Did you see a chinamen at the bar talking to a girl. If you did that was me. I'd waited till 12 also and didn't meet up with anyone. I guess I needed to add more detail for people to id me. So there was no group meet. I appologize to anyone else that's got there and missed me. I know it's not easy making extra time. If you want to try and meet again, post here. We'll be more specific about where, when and how to id eachother. Eugene 98.5 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 24v. I bleed b100.....

skywarm, I've been emailing a member here in Dallas area that has an appleseed/washer and actually made a batch. I'd suggested to him to host a meeting/process when he get ready to do another batch. I've haven't talked to him lately but will let you know when I do. There are just too many confict of schedule for everyone to setup a meet. Be patient and we'll get this going. Eugene 98.5 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 24v. I bleed b100.....

Count me in... I have just finished building a 50L reactor from beer kegs and brewery parts. I used to be a professional brewmaster. There are many similarities. I would like a few other people to talk with about this. I plan on brewing my first batch next week. Greendaddy

Skywarn, I am quite interested in seeing a batch of biodiesel made. Would it be possible to come by and help on Sunday when you plan to make a batch? I'm also in the Richardson/Garland/Plano area. Thanks, JD

Re: Dallas area newbie git together......

after meeting a few people and making a few full batches to show the process.. I've learned one big thing... TIME. the time it takes to really make a batch is too long from start to end. I changed my Appleseed to run off of 110 so it takes at least 1 hour for the oil to heat to 130, then it only takes 5 min to mix the lye and methanol but then takes an hour to blend. then its a 6-8 hour wait, drain the gly, off then mist for 4-5 hours, drain, mist again for 2-hours, drain, fill with 1/3 water and bubble for 4-5 hours, then dry... I was lucky enough, this weekend to have a wash batch AND a new batch so i was able to show the last steps and the very beg. steps. I still think the best way is how Travis L. puts it. "you can learn all you need from making test batches" and heres why... unless you have an Appleseed or something up and ready to go, your not going to get the full 100% out of it. I watched Travis make a few batches, my set up is pretty close to his. However... my process is completely diff from his. its all about just doing, and learning as you go. Your going to make mistakes, that's ok. it took me 4 bad batches to get my first FULL 25gal good batch. but what i learned from that's is, now if something doesn't look right, I can fix myself. I don't need to have to call anybody about it. And that makes me feel pretty good. =o) Don't get me wrong here.. i think we could all learn a lot from doing "met & greets" but i think the most would be learned by going over notes and pic's. bottom line.. IT REALLY IS THAT EASY TO MAKE IT!!! =o) all that being said, I'm still up for a meeting sometime soon. I've met some really good people in the last few months. and besides, i need to pick some peoples ideas about the weather changes coming up VERY soon and how to deal with that... 05 Jeep Liberty CRD 40 Gal Appleseed Methanol source: http://www.smileysracing.com/about.php (Dallas, Tx) NoAH: http://www.tayloredconcepts.com/bath%20and%20body.htm
