Re: B100 NOT $1.95 at SOlar Market anymore
I talked to Naoto today before driving over. He said they are all out until early next week [:(]
I bought 50 gal last month and he wasn't giving the credit at that time. Wonder if he is giving it retroactively[?]

Re: B100 NOT $1.95 at SOlar Market anymore
Latest cautionary word from SolarMarket:
I dropped by today to check on the price. They have put in for their IRS rebate (1'st quarter of '05) and have yet to hear back. They have calls into the regional IRS office to determine if the sale of 100% BD qualifies.
Here's what the IRS says about 100% sales:
In the case of biodiesel not in a mixture (100% biodiesel or B100), the credit is allowable to the person selling the biodiesel in a qualifying retail sale or, if the biodiesel has not been sold in a qualifying retail sale, to the person using the biodiesel as a fuel in a trade or business. A sale is a qualifying retail sale for this purpose if it is at retail and the biodiesel is placed in the fuel tank of the purchaser’s vehicle at the time of the sale.
Looks like they would qualify...but we're waiting for them to be certain.
Delivery tomorrow...price still unsettled as of 11 a.m. today.

Requiring that it is placed in the fuel tank at the time of sale seems rather odd, and unnecessarily complicated. For companies like Solar Market, that sell to people who put some in their cars, and some into jugs to put into their cars later, it just makes an incredible mess. Wonder how they should handle it....
It might be easier to just leave it up to the individual consumers to file for it.

Re: B100 NOT $1.95 at SOlar Market anymore
Hold everything.
There is now some question about whether they will be able to get the credit or not (because of the IRS interpretation, where they say it is only for blended biodiesel). Also, it appears that the biodiesel producer may be raising their price - feeling that if people get the tax credit, they can raise their own price some, and with the credit, it will still be cheaper than before the credit.
Trying to figure out what's going on....

BUSINESS as usual whether it be big business or wanna bees little business what better way to get to be big business than to cash in on a new thing before someone else does. You really dont think some chain store is going to ask the proper ? to the IRS do you.Lets keep striving to make our own and we can deal with the IRS.on our own terms not some that are neigotiated with some BUSINESS.When we realize that BUSINESS has put us in the predicament that we are in to begin with maybe just maybe we will see why we should continue are endeaverments towards being totally independent of them or at least not as reliant.

Re: B100 NOT $1.95 at SOlar Market anymore
First, Solar Market is not a "chain store". Second, the fault is with the IRS - they did a horrible job of developing the tax code for this, the issue of not understanding the code is industry-wide. Read the IRS forms - they're not only confusing, but some of the requirements they made are idiotic (i.e. apparently personal users can only file for it if you buy at least 800 gallons per year, etc.).
Business itself is not inherently bad. It's greedy business-people that are the problem.
I just got off the phone with Solar Market - the biodiesel producer supplying NH is demonstrating themselves to fit into the "greedy business" group. They've raised prices by 80 cents per gallon now, apparently in response to the tax credit and rising diesel prices (basically feeling that if people have been willing to pay a premium for biodiesel so far, we still will, so just raise prices such that with the credit, biodiesel will still be about the same amount more expensive than diesel). The price, if you buy 50 gallons or more from Solar Market, is now back up to $2.70 per gallon after taxes, and including the tax credit.
edit to correct the price - that's right, it went up from $1.95 before taxes (I think it worked out to something like $2.20 with taxes) to $2.70 per gallon after taxes and tax credit. If you buy 50 gallons, it drops to $2.55.
edit again - I had the price wrong, see later posts.

Re: B100 NOT $1.95 at SOlar Market anymore
I just spoke with Solar market and their current price is $2.40 per gallon for B100. I'm going there tomorrow afternoon. I'll post the price paid on Thursday.

Greedy people in business are the benefactors of the BUSINESS correct, but as for the business itself it isnt bad correct.I never said solar market was a chain store I was referring to a chain store mgr. reply about a tax question I asked about a fuel tax.As for the IRS being the culprit you are right on.Im sure the IRS will ammend their confusing and idiotic requirments after the not inherently bad BUSINESS molds them to suit their greedy BUSINESS peoples ways. Are you in BUSINESS,do you read and know your United States Constitution and abide by it.
