Ithaca Biodiesel Cooperative is just starting up this summer/fall. Right now only SVO is available, but hopefully BD will be available soon too. The web site is still a work in progress (www.ithacabiodiesel.org).

Well that's cool. I work in Cortland, which is only about 20 minutes down the road.

Re: Where to get biodiesel in New Jersey and New York
Taylor in Somerville now has more options than just the pails.
They have 55 gal drums and 300 gal totes available. The pails are
still $25 each, and currently the drums are $200 each ($3.64/gal) and
the totes are $900 ($3.00/gal). Those include the cost of the
container, and the totes I think include delivery within a certain
range. Those prices are for B100. I am waiting for another
reply about blend prices, and to find out if it would be any cheaper to
pick up the tote in somerville, or to bring a tote and get it
filled. I will update when I know more. It is more
expensive than I would like, but I have not been able to get myself set
up to process my own, so it may have to do for now. If anyone in
the area wants to buy some of it from me, I will ask $.10/gal above
what it costs me to cover my pump, guage, filters, and electricity.

Re: Where to get biodiesel in New Jersey and New York
And the followup. If you bring your own tote to the yard in
Somerville, they will fill it (300 gal) for $800 (2.67/gal). For
large orders like that, they do need som e lead time in the winter
because they don't keep much on hand (because of the cloud
point). The contact there is still Rick Workman, and while he
only seems to check email once a day, he is very helpful.

Re: Where to get biodiesel in New Jersey and New York
I am looking for Biodiesel on Long Island, or in Queens. Prefferably somewhere were I can pull up and fill my tank like a traditional gas station. OR, I'd be willing to buy 55 gallon drums if I could get them delivered to my house. Can anyone help me out. I have tried Vogelbilt several times but he is not selling it anymore. Thanks John

Cara7 I'm in New Rochelle and I converted my truck to run on WVO.In the winter it just doesn't work without thinning so if you have plans for making bio I would be very interested and willing to help.

Re: Where to get biodiesel in New Jersey and New York
I am on the Nassau Suffolk Border and I am interested in starting a co-op. What I can being to the table is the expertise to build the processor for about $1,500. What I do not have a lot of is space and time. If someone has comercial space locally to spare and a wilingness to particpate please contact me. I will be honest and say that although I am not an expert in the field, I am 100% confident that I can build an effiecient reactor that takes up very little space and is proven to work well and safely. With a few interested parties, we could devide up the work of sourcing the best WVO available and rotate shifts in procesing it. I would also propose hiring a consultant to help us get started. Anyone interested? All of my research has convinced me to start small and work up as we become more efficient. So that is the plan for now. Let me know what you think.

Re: Where to get biodiesel in New Jersey and New York
Total Fuels sell the biodiesel for over 5 dollars a gallon. YIKES
I was hoping it might be cheaper than regular diesel.
Why is it all commercial processors are very very expensive. Beware people, there
are entities trying to make a quick OVERINFLATED buck on our interest of making biodiesel
