If you're interested in buying multiple drums in bulk at some discount, I'm certainly interested. If you're looking at splitting up a single 55 gallon drum, I'm not much help to you.

What part of western WI ... if it is in the southern part I could be interested in a fair chunk. I am in eastern Iowa so if you are closer to Iowa than Canada then I might be able to get in too. Jim

Have you guys priced this out recently? There has been a big price increase in methanol over the last few weeks.

I've seen a good number of posts regarding this price rise. From what I've read, it's by source, and has NOT affected every supplier thankfully. I've seen the price vary between $121 and ~$250 for barrels of the same methanol before this "price hike", so it's worth your time to do some investigation to find a different supplier if you need cheaper methanol. (I'd recommend my current supplier, but they won't sell to homebrewers.) Further, I retract my above interest in "thousands" of gallons. Storage, mainly keeping the methanol dry, has proven a challenge. I'd still be interested in a bulk barrel purchase, however. Dano, if you're still at $130, that's a heck of a price. Good shopping. Methanol is a comodity and supplies are tight. The only reason I can see that it wouldn't affect every supplier's pricing would be because they have stock on hand that they purchased before the increase (and base their price on cost plus instead of replacement cost). I have not raised my price yet, but my supplier has raised my cost 50 cents per gallon to offset his replacement cost. His cost has gone up about $1.30 per gallon!!! We are both hoping that we have enough stock on hand to weather the increase, as it's supposed to be temporary.

I was lucky enough to be on hand when our petroleum fuels were delivered today. Aside from learning we now pay $1.71/gallon for Premium Package Farm Diesel, I learned that my methanol costs have gone up from $2.20/gallon to $3.03/gallon. The upside is that the company (SemFuels) expects prices to stay up only 2 or 3 months longer; no reason was given for the hikes, but I trust the information. All this makes me happy I invested in methanol recovery. Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. - Hanlon's Razor

I'm located in Marion, on the North side of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  I'd be interested in a bulk purchase of 55 gallon drums of methanol.

I also might have a source of 250 gallon bulk containers of newly produced, unused vegetable oil that is "off grade" and cannot used for human consumption.

    Regional methanol buy-group

If anyone is interested in trying to co-op a bulk, discounted methanol purchase later this Spring (prices are expected to drop significantly in April or May), I'd be interested in coordinating. We'll be ordering a pallet of the alcohol as soon as the price drops below $2.50 gallon. Delivery of full barrels to the regions around Wisconsin Rapids and Green Bay (perhaps others?) is possible. If quantities smaller than a drum are needed, that may be worked out as well. PM if interested.

Current best price I can find is 3.25/gal for 55 gal drums. Anyone find it cheaper lately? Milwaukee area.
