Wanting to Start a South Jersey Biodiesel Group

Hello all you can call me Zap,

(Zap is an online name I use in the Eve-Online Game).  Anyway, like all of you I have found the exciting world of alternate fuels and I have a strong interest in getting much more involved with home brewing biodiesel.  I just secured a place to get FREE peanut oil so I'm making some progress.  I was going to run an ad in the local paper to see if I could locate like minded people to group with and share my passion in this field.  Maybe I'll land some interest here I hope.

My next step is to purchase a diesel vehicle.  I had to hold off because I was  trying to sell one of my investment properties with no luck.  But recently I got a warm body to take this flip off my hands (if you want to call 8 months of mortgage payments a flip.....geeeesh).  So doing the DD right now on what type of car I should get.  I'm concerned about getting an older vehicle that will cost me a lot in repair work so I have some researching to do.

I'm already clearing out my 1 car garage to make room for my Biodiesel Station (dam i get excited just thinking about it).  I see some of you already make Biodiesel which I think is awesome good job :  )

I live 12 miles outside of Atlantic City in a town called Galloway N.J.

I currently live in Hunterdon County, but will soon be moving to Toms River.  I am part of the New Hope Biodiesel Co-op, and will probably still go up there occasionally, but would like to find some other bio folks closer to home.  My uncle and I hope to start brewing soon in Belmar.

Nice!  I grew up in Toms River.  I'm a Toms River East HS Graduate.  Yes, I'm gearing up as well, going to get the home garage ready for some at home processing.  I really want to apply the theory to some actual batch making.

If you would like to get together one weekend let me know.

Hello all, I live in Mays Landing and I am about to get started putting together a Biodiesel Station now. Also I have a buddy from Somerdale that wants to get started as well. We are beginning to search out sources for oil.

    Hi All,
I am very interested in joining your S. NJ biodiesel group.
I live in Manalapan and work in Eatontown.
I am handy and do a lot of my own auto repairs.
I have been using a 1988 Suburban diesel as my daily driver for two years and would like to convert to biodiesel or WVO.  I just purchased a 1983 GMC Jimmy that is also ready to go biodiesel.

I live in Wildwood NJ and would like to buy 1000's of gallons of biodiesel a year (commercial fishing boat).  I wouldn't mind working with a co-op...

I'm an East Graduate too! (1987)  And currently live in Ocean Gate.  Biodiesel is something I'm getting very interested in.  I have lots of ideas for building my own Appleseed unit.  The only problem is I don't have any vehicles to burn any biodiesel in.  I would love to get a diesel pickup truck and get a diesel boat.  Currently my truck is gas as is my boat.  I run a construction company so I have alot of experience building things, so I don't think the actual construction of the reactor will be a problem.  I've been thinking about alternative fuels for some time and I would really like to start communicating with people in this area that have similiar interests.  Hopefully talk to you soon - Glen

The New Hope, PA, group has a yahoo group that they use for discussion and to bring people into the group.

I created one ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SJBDG ) if we want to use that.  If not, I can delete it and we can do it some other way.

Tried looking up B.E.E.R. law.  Found nothing.  What is it?

By the way I'm very interested in a South NJ co-op.  How do we get it started?

Also - Made my very first small (1L) batch today.  It was awesome to see the reaction taking place right in front of me.  Can't wait to get my Appleseed up and running!

Re: Wanting to Start a South Jersey Biodiesel Group

Morning Zap:  I live in Manahawkin, and already have a setup to make biodiesel from waste vegetable oil. Although it sounds easy, it is somewhat difficult to obtain the waste vegetable oil. The local restaurants dump their used oil in a dumpster with no regard for garbage such as paper towels, rags and whatever else you can imagine. So, that makes it difficult to obtain. Furthermore, they may not be water tight.  Anyway, I am interested in forming a co-op.

Re: Wanting to Start a South Jersey Biodiesel Group

Afternoon everyone:  I spent about six hours driving from restaurant to restaurant in seach of waste vegetable oil. Seems that a commercial business has all the oil locked down in the Manahwkin area. Soem of the contracts will not allow for anyone else but the business to pick up the oil. So, this is a bit more dificult than I first imagined.  I already have the setup to make the fuel, all I am lacking is the oil.  Rick

Sure, not too difficult to make, I filter the oil a few times before I add kerosene, gasoline, cetane boost, and some other ingredient. Again, the issue is obtaining the oil in the first place. It is a big mess, and takes alot of time running around. If you want, I can let you know when I gather up about 40 gallons to make.  Rick
