    Plug-In Lighting

I purchased a 2-light flourescent fixture tonight and not until I got home did I question that it probably isn't a plug-in. Of course it wasn't, it is meant to be hard-wired. I'm not comfortable installing something like that, and I am in a rental so I was wondering if anyone knows of a good spot (physical or online) to get a 2-light plug-in fixture... preferrably 24" T5, or T12's. T-12's seem to have the most options for "grow lights" (although I believe any light will "work"?)

     Thanks!

Thanks, though i'm kinda looking for something more then just a stick, more of a fixture with 2 bulbs, the metal kinds. I have already hit wal-mart and lowe's but much of their stuff (particularly wal-mart) didn't come in the configuration i was looking for (or was too long). 2' T-5 light is what i had hoped for, basically I had a shoplight-esque type of light in mind, but with a plug.

More then likely i will have to go with just the stick route it's looking like?

(and on a side note, i have finally cheaply bought a few materials to start growing. Much of it is very mild and amateur, but I don't know a whole lot on growing and so to experiment first hand, i've gotta dive in. I am just going to start with local pond algea for just growing purposes and get the idea down a little before i'd go and purchase an higher oil strain)  Smile  Wish me luck

If you are uncomfortable adding a cord and plug to the unit you have bought, drop in on your local electrician and ask him to do the job. There is no law against having a portable florescent light fitting.

     Tee,

Carolina Biologicals sells algae samples for $6.25 to $9.25.  They don't carry any oil bearing species, but you can find some that are close to the one you are really interested in.  Then you would be able to practice on a pure strain and try to keep it pure, like you will need to with the oil bearing strains.

    Good luck.

    Bobby
