  • Who can I find that sells methanol by the barrel in Hawaii or ships it to Hawaii.  I live in Kauai where diesel now sells for $4.10 a gallon and it just keeps going up.  I bought my 2007 Dodge diesel tuck for the mileage and extra power over my 1998 Dodge with a 360cid that gets 12 to 13 mpg that costs $3.76 a gallon.  Currently I get 16.4 up to 18 mpg with the diesel; depending on long vs. short drives and terrain.  The truck will get 14.5 mpg if traffic speeds are under 45 mph and people can't drive a steady speed in front of me which on Kauai is very often the norm.  With the price difference between gas and diesel it appears that the savings factor has all but gone.  Right now I am searching possible vegetable oil sources from local restaurants and the like and so far things look good.  But now I need a methanol source so I can compare all of the costs involved.  I'm new to diesels and a newborn when it comes to BioDiesel so any help or suggestions anyone has I would appreciate it.  This especially applies to the best most durable trouble free easy to use BioDiesel production equipment....Thanks in advance to all who respond.

  • Aloha-  Any luck?  I'm on Kauai doing research as well.  My number here is 310 909 3699 as I never got around to changing it.  Wife's is 808 482 0550.  I'm Shaun, her name is Krisha.  Let's talk and see if we can help each other out.
