  • Hello I'm interested in the idea of a biodiesel co-op in the Philadelphia area. The beauty of teh philadelphia area is not only that it is connected by a large waterway, but also has an extremely dense population of environmental enthausists and an ample supply of waste oil. I would like to propose a meeting towards this end for January 05 and would like to solicit any interested parties to join this discussion. With a limited capital investment we could grow the coop as a cottage industry eventually upgrading to a large facility. Again I'm looking at Jan 05 for a business meeting to discuss this matter in person. Until then let's continue this discussion via this forum.
  • i run a co-op in south jersey near marlton or medford. email me if you want comp998@aol.com

  • I am interested in that. Send me an email about it. dellio24@comcast.net Dan
  • I'd be interested in that especially if it was a little further up 476. Keith
  • Guys, I met with a guy that just bought a '94 Dodge truck with a Cummins. He is greatly interested in Biodiesel. Not only use but produce. He has a rental property that he wants to make a deal with his tenants, lower the rent so he can have the 2 car detached garage. He wants to make BD for himself, and he is very open to having a Coop there. The garage is located in Collegeville. It is kind of next to the Collegeville Inn. It is set back off the road. He also has access to a meeting room in Norristown, right on Markley Street. Keith
  • I would be interested in joining a BioDiesel coop in the Philly area. I live in Coopersburg, right north of Quakertown. Can someone email me some information? clips19(at)hotmail.com
  • I am writing to see what response I can get to a BioDiesel co-op in the Lehigh Valley & surrounding area. If we had a few locations around this area how many people would be interested? How many gallons per week would everyone be interested in buying if the price was comparable to diesel? Please let me know. Perhaps we can organize something and bring a clean, renewable and economically feasible fuel to the area.
  • If you guys can find the address and phone number of the Worldenergy biodiesel distributor in Philadephia (which supplies the PA Turnpike), please post the info here. I would suggest getting to talk with the local distributor(s) to see what they are willing to do, the pricing they could give you, fuel delivery, etc. Best of luck, and please post here any developments![:)]
  • Hello All, The Energy Cooperative (www.theenergy.coop), a Philadelphia based nonprofit cooperative serving 6500 members throughout southeast PA, has spun off a new company, Philadelphia Fry-o-Diesel (www.fryodiesel.com), that is developing a demonstration-scale biodiesel production facility. Our intent is to scale up to a commercial volume in order to serve the local demand. We will be using trapgrease as a feedstock. In the mean time, The Energy Cooperative is developing a distribution network for local fleets and individual users. Please email ecapstaff@theenergy.coop if you are interested. We also coordinate the U.S. Dept. of Energy program Greater Philadelphia Clean Cities (www.phillycleancities.org), and through this venue are working diligently to install a biodiesel pump (B20) in Philadelphia. We are eager to develop the same type of biodiesel momentum that exists so successfully in other cities (Berkeley, Cambridge, etc.) and welcome community support. Please include us in the January meeting!

  • CORRECTION: If interested in The Energy Cooperative or Fry-o-Diesel, please email EBLandsburg@theenergy.coop (not ecapstaff). Thanks!

  • Any word yet on that guy who has the garage?
  • I haven't heard from him in a while. I'm going to have to stop by his business tomorrow and talk to him. Keith
  • People might be interested in going to the next Greater Philadlephia Clean Cities meeting. It will be held on Tuesday, January 11th in Center City Philadeplhia from 10am till noon. Researchers from the USDA lab in Wyndmoor will be speaking about work they are doing with the development of biodiesel and ethanol. Email coordinator@phillycleancities.org for more info. All are welcome!

  • Hi, I am working on organizing a biodiesel co-op in Philly. It will be a purchasing co-op as opposed to a producing co-op (to start).

My goal is to have biodiesel more readily available in the Philadelphia area. That includes commercially-made biodiesel, biodiesel from recycled oil, and filtered used fryer oil for converted cars.

Please email me if you are interested: maburian@speakeasy.net

    Thanks.
