  • I'm thinking about getting a Car Top Luggage Carrier for my 2003 Jetta Wagon.  Has anyone used something like this on their car?  The wagon has 2 rails on top, so I imagine it's designed to support it.  I'm considering something along these lines:

  • I have had a Thule rack for our skis mounted on our Land Rover for many (maybe as long as 20) years. The difference is our carrier is longer and has a lower profile. We have crammed tons of stuff inside and the only problem I have noted is that the locking rods are exposed on the inside and can get bound up by stuff pressing on them. We left it mounted on the truck year round and have just noticed that the plastic around the mounting area is now broken. This is due to the carrier being empty and flexing up and down. I chalk this up to normal wear and tear. We liked the brand so much we got one of their trailer hitch mounted boxes a few years ago.

Hmm.. I am wondering if I could find someone who could customize the same stuff for me in my place.
