Hi all. A co-worker is looking at possibly selling his parent's barely-driven 1992 MB 300D (it has 54k on the clock and the biggest problem is the battery has died several times due to lack of use). I'm interested in getting back into a diesel (I'd sell my Pacifica on the open market), but wary of the potential cost of repairs.
Opinions? How do they drive? Are they reliable? Any way to make 'em quicker? How about experience with replacing the fuel lines, etc? Should I be concerned by the 54k on a 17-year old car?
Change fuel lines, battery and that car can do 500-600k without engine problems.
To make mercedes quicker, you need a lot $.
The only problems you may have is with rubber parts (17 years on car), but that is very cheap.
