  • Greetings! I'm new to the forum, but familiar with BD, as a good friend of ours is running B100 in his VW, and is active in the local [Portland Oregon area] BD co-op. My husband and I are considering the purchase of a new Kubota BX23 sub compact tractor with a loader and small backhoe to do landcape chores and what have you. I have searched the forum for info on Kubota and found that many of you have Kubota mowers and small tractors, aparently thriving on B20 thru B100 fuels. I asked my friend about running BD in the Kubota if we get it, and his only concern was if the factory fuel lines had any rubber or Buna hoses or O-rings, as Viton would be needed to resist chemical rotting. Just wondering if anyone here can answer with certainty that the new BX23 will be just fine, or if I will need to hunt down some lines and seals to upgrade/replace with Viton? Thanks for your help, Looks like a GREAT forum!
  • My guess is that all of the lines in that Kubota are hard (steel). Just ask your dealer if they are.

  • Jenn, We have a BX1800 tractor and have been running B100 in the summer and a B50-kerosene blend in the winter. The tractor runs better on B100 than it did on the #2 diesel we were feeding it: it runs smooter, quieter, and smells a whole lot better. I haven't looked too closely at the various fuel lines beyond noticing that the lines from the tank to/from the engine are some kind of synthetic rubber/plastic/??? and the high-pressure lines coming out of the injector pump are hard metal (steel?). I have not noticed any degradation of any of the lines so far, although I wouldn't expect much as we have only been using biodiesel since summer 2003 and only have about 30 hours of runtime on it.
  • Have a new holland tractor. Have ran b1oo for over 1 yr with lots of hrs. No problems. Had the injectors out and tested and they looked near perfect. I suggest that you put tank water and debris filters on your storage tank.
