There is no shortcut for success in life. It's combination of time, utmost dedication, right direction. hardwork and luck.
I am working over this JATROPHA and I am hopefull to implement its plantation in SINDH, Karachi. Do contact me 03009257459.
Good future is hidden in agriculture and organic agriculture. Hope to hear from your end soon.
if you are interested then let me know we can discuss things in details. In pakistan we lack in resources but still i have ways to cope in it to successfull cultivation.
All Jatropha seeds in Africa and Asia are practically the same - any initial difference in performance is likely to be due the condition of the seed before planting. If someone ask a premium for a high performing seed/plant - don't beleive it, they are telling lies - high performance at this stage of plant development is likely to be due to other factors (soil nutrition and water) rather than genetics. contact me if you need more information - though i generally only deal with very large plantations
You are perfectly right and on spot of this stereo-type issue. I'd already mentioned somewhere in this biodieselnow.com forum than all Jatropha Curcus seeds & plants which are particularly comes under Jatropha Curcus-L variety all are same, doesn't matter which country they originated or imported. Difference & rate of germination is only affected by proper way of developing nursery & how old & new seeds are harvested, if they are fresh, germination rate will be more, if they are harvested few months back than germination rate will go down.
Performance & growth depends upon the way you look after the plantation, if you work hard, ( have proper irrigation & fertilizer application ) they will grow fast and gives good yields, if you leave them on their own on natural forces, than results will be not that attractive. According to my own plantation observation & research by so many sources, genetically no difference in seeds, they all are similar in plant structure, leaves & colour. All these companies are doing sales gimps, so new people will purchased their seed on premier rates.
dear sir

Dear All Members
This particular message is update of my posting on 13th November 2008 on same forum in which I mentioned that trial of Jatropha Curcus plantation was underway at my small agriculture farm near Mian Channu, 90-kms from Multan towards Lahore.
Today after 9 months, here are the results with prove of pictures. Followings are few facts about plantation.
1. JC seeds were imported from Philippines, Malaysia & Thailand.
2. All seeds were from species of Jatropha Curcus – L according to our best source.
3. Six weeks old nursery was plantation is 2 x 2 meters (6 x 6 ft).
4. Plants height is almost 5 ½ to 6 ft at the age of 10 months.
5. Water was given to plants after every 15 days. (Irrigation)
6. 100 grams of DAP & 2 kg of NP (Nitro Phosphate) per plant in last 8 months.
Please feel free if you any have questions to fire. I’ll be glad to answer and please let me know if I’d done any mistake. Thx
With Best Kind Regards
Nice looking plantation you have Asif. Someone is taking alot of pride in their work!
I have a few questions if you dont mind.
What type of soil?
What is the ave rainfall in the area?
What was the ave rainfall over the test period?
How much irregation/plant/15 days?
What is the normal crop in the area?
flectere si nequeo superos, Achaeronta movebo! -Virgil
Thanks for appreciation, answers to your questions are
1. What type of soil?
80% clay and 20% sandy soil, best agriculture soil in southern Punjab, Pakistan.
2. What is the ave rainfall in the area? & 3.What was the ave rainfall over the test period?
Average rainfall depends upon monsoon, last year we planted tress after monsoon and this year rain is going to start next week but average rainfall is our area is not more than 400 to 500 mm annually.
4. How much irregation/plant/15 days?
In this part of world, we’d canal water irrigation system, I didn’t measure the exact quantity of water but we did give lot of water, infact we flooded the plants.
5. What is the normal crop in the area?
Normal crops are Wheat, Rice, Corn and Cotton.
Mentioned before this area and land is not perfect candidate for Jatropha Curcus plantation because of Fuel vs Food issue, we’d just planted these trees to have our own trial as well as to develop nursery and than move to our main plantation area of 270 acres of land, which is mainly sandy looms, very marginal land, no cash crops, less water.
Asif Saleem Shah best agriculture soil in southern Punjab, Pakistan.
Do you know how deep the ground water typically is?
Yes, Indeed we had lot of water in canals & rivers. Southern Punjab is breadbasket for atleast 50% of Pakistani population. Punjab is land of five rivers and mega distribution of canals system. Groundwater depends upon how much away you are from river, typically in between 10ft to 50 ft.
Asif Saleem Shah Mentioned before this area and land is not perfect candidate for Jatropha Curcus plantation because of Fuel vs Food issue,
Yes, I would hate for a place that is so in need of serious economic growth to spend precious time, energy, water and tilled land on something as unproductive as most biofuel projects. So I propose that you consider another avenue... Biochar. Instead of burning your biomass, use it to produce massive amounts of fertile soils. Here is a nice video, here is another series of info on the topic.
This is reference and update to my postings of 13th November 2008 & 6th Aug 2009. I'm glad to inform & share with all members that first fruiting of Jatropha Curcus is been observed at our trial plantation farm near Mian Channu, 90-kms from Multan towards Lahore, Plant age is almost 10 months, seed was imported from Malaysia.
