biodiese as alternate fuel realization in the Phil

we are group of people who will start producing biodiesel at home grown technology intitally we have a list of diesel engine owners who are willing to purchase biodiesel at same price or lower than petro-diesel initially we have 20 diesel engine owner who will buy 20 liters of biodiesel a week, so a total of 400 liters a week good enough on my biodiesel processor my initial profit margin will be Php peso 5.00 per liter so a cool Php p 2,000.00 per week as my added income and i only spend 2 hours max a day in making biodiesel. the point is if we start using biodiesel and not petrodiesel we make shell or caltext sell less by 400 liters. suppose we make it 10 times biodiesel user so a total of 4,000 liters of petro diesel not sold. how about 100 times biodiesel user or 1,000 times biodiesel user. then we as consumer will have a leverage on price control of petro-diesel because the seller will not control the price but the buyer because they have an alternative fuel far better then pollution causing petro-diesel. if 100,000 of diesel engine owners stop buying petro-diesel at 10 liters a day a total of 1,000,000 liters of petro-diesel not sold a day just imagine the impact to these big oil companies who dictate the oil price. so let us make our own fuel and this is affordable and can be done by ordinary person you dont need to be chemist, technician or engineer to make biodiesel at you own kitchen or garage beside Philippines is one of the largest coconut oil producer in the world who does not control the price of coconut oil but amsterdam who do not have a single coconut tree. Phillipine has a huge coconut plantation and only a handfull of cocodiesel producer. Pinoy wake up and do your share in biodiesel/cocodiesel promotion or if possible "MAKE YOUR OWN BIODIESEL/COCODIESEL" there are strong interest at community level about home grown biodiesel processing and massive information drive that everybody can make biodiesel with out using hi tech equipment we are currently coordinating with various cooperative, DEC on their program young enterpreneur sponsor by RFM, religious order to have their own pilot project of having biodiesel mini processing plant at their own backyard.

Hello, I am a new member of this forum. I am trying to connect to anybody in the Philippines who can give me any information on how to start a biodiesel plant using coconut oil. My main purpose is to help my barangay to produce their own bio plant. I am willing to financed a pilot project so I can teach them how to be self sufficient and not rely on imported oil which is choking us all even in the USA. By the way, I am originally from Albay in the bicol region.

Good Day to all of you! I am just curious, one of the major cost contributors to the price of coco biodiesel would be the cost of the HDPE bottle used. Are there other cheaper bottle types that can be safely used to package coco biodiesel? Kindly elaborate in layman's terms. Hoping for a reply :) Thank you!

my recent suvey with regards to availability of raw material or feed stocks for biodiesel production are the following waste 1. vegetable oil,(from by product of fast food chain) 2. black oil (by product of coconut oil mill)3. CFA coconut fatty acid (by product of coco nut oil refinery)4. crude coconut oil (produce by coconut oil mill) 5. edible coconut oil (produce by coconut oil refinery)in that order the cheapest is waste vegetable oil and the most expensive is edible oil. can you imagine now, what will be the price range of your biodiesel because on the average the price of feedstock will be 12 peso/kilo up to 31 peso/kilo. if your feed stock is so cheap(by the way clean coconut oil can be blend directly with petro-diesel)why the present price of commercialy available cocodiesel is very expensive from 80-120 peso per liter? it is not the process nor the price of other chemical (such as methanol/caustic soda) if your recovery of BD is between 95-97% coco oil to biodiesel you have a very good processor and the by product of biodiesel is glycerine (glycerine soap or lotion is expensive beauty product the crude glycerine cost in the market between 120-150 peso/liter) the cost of methanol, caustic soda and other can be covered up by the cost of by product glycerine and you can make very good solvent soap out of methyl ester or ethyl ester (common name biodiesel). if you have good source of feedstock and interested to make a difference in the philippines you better sum up your resource and put up biodiesel plant of your own. other country do it why not we filipino can do it. franklin b. del rosario

You can collect oil from your neighbors if you're having a tough time getting WVO from large chains. Maybe you can talk to your barangay Captains, so that you can spread the word and the benefit. To my knowledge, when renderers pick up the oil, it's more about the particle content that's used for pet food... so you have a source to recycle those burnt shrimp and kampote fries. Philippines, you are OVERDUE. Recycling and Sustainable Living will save a beautiful country, and a beautiful people. You have the WVO. You have the coconuts. i agree with you 101 percent and i'm lucky that we are going pretty well with home brew bd and allied products. the source of oil is not a problem at all we are working with big fast food chain and going to different part of the country to survey potential source of vegetable oil. we are going big even at minimal capital because it will be mass base livelihood. this task is herculean work considering filipino mentality but if we dont do it who else. currently we are working with refiner company of edible oil to be a dealer so we can sell their oil at various restaurant at reasonable cost, in return restaurant will sell their used oil to us (to discharge unscrupullous trader who reprocess the used cooking oil mixed with fresh oil and re-sell as fresh edible oil).in this system we can eliminate used cooking oil to be resold to market (used cooking oil or even too prequently heating and longer period of cooking is bad to you health like the case of mc donald who lost court case in repeated using of vegetable oil) there is an abundant of oil mill or copra miller all over the Philippines with excess by product such as black oil even crude coconut oil. the only problem i can see is the mentality of most filipino who will not venture at there own or take the risk they are waiting until every body is doing it like the case of nata the coco until production is so bad that there is no taker of nata de coco even virgin coconut oil the good thing with the biodiesel is there is a support from government even in promoting the use of bidiesel in government car the problem is very few can produce biodiesel because they think large scale production like biodiesel plant in Romblon by Pcierd,some of DOST tech will not help you to have biodiesel plant if you dont pay for a fee. even big company is saying backyard technology is not capable of producing biodiesel or always insisting they are DOE accredited even their product is not good wash biodiesel. Frank, May I know your location. Can I visit your backyard plant and see how you are processing your cocodiesel. I understand that there are two methods of producing coco-methyl ester either batch method or continous method. Which one are you using? Another thing are you using methanol or ethanol? Also, would you be willing to sell and I will market it under my own label?

our plant was located at binangonan rizal it is a batch process, but we are using waste vegetable oil as feed stock. you see we have two purpose here we used wvo as feed stock because here in philippines there are many scrupulous businesmen who recycle wvo and sell it again in the market. as we study this wvo it is very sickening to know that this no moral traders resell wvo at public market and we discover even branded cooking oil blend wvo with fresh oil and sell. it is sickening because we know that using wvo again and again is bad for human health. so it become our cause to buy wvo and compete with this bad trader, make wvo usefull again and make it biodiesel sell it at reasonable price and help the environment. as we talk to the most of fastfood chain and restaurant management like Pier Uno, el nido they are very cooperative they dont want to sell their used cooking oil to any body except to us because we have a good cause and they dont want their oil to be used again for cooking. many are willing to sell to us even lower that they sell before because they have a good heart too. we made biodiesel available to everybody and even created a new product that will help fuel to burn completely and reduce smoke pollution by 60-70 % and maximized fuel utilization because you burn more fuel than before and cover more milage, in short you strech you fuel budget by 20-30%. definetly biodiesel will help a lot wvo will be used as fuel rather than reused again in the kitchen. you clean the environment by creating less air pollutant into the atmosphere because biodiesel is 11 percent oxygen. you must understand that perfect combustion is the product of fuel + air/oxygen + heat result water vapor + carbon dioxide. Internal combustion engine has design limitation of getting more air as it increase the speed. offsetting the air fuel ratio result to unburn fuel once air become less result to less fuel burn and the rest become pollution. so if you add oxygen to you fuel like biodiesel blend with petro diesel. the higher the blend the better because the smoke pollution will be reduce dramatically. presently we are not tapping yet the fresh coconut oil because we want to combat first those trader who resell the used cooking oil again as new cooking oil by the way one way to find out that when you buy your cooking oil check foe oil sources if it is coconut, palm, corn, soya etc. but if the label say vegetable oil, edible oil think again specially can with tampered seal. franklin b. del rosario

Frank, I agree with you. There are many unscrupulous business people around. I might say some business person wants to take the easy way to richness. If only they understand the way to real richness is by helping others then maybe we will not have to deal with this kind of people. Anyway going back to cocodiesel, I have to commend you for your vision in denying people with evil intent of their raw materials and at the same time showing them an alternative way of using this useless raw material to something that is valuable. Are you currently selling your CME through distributors or are you selling them yourself? I understand aside from Chemrez, Senbel and another manufacturer are into CME plus the Romblon plant. In reality there are now many corporations into CME production. The problem now is acceptance by consumer. This is where we need a lot to work so CME will be accepted.

I'm going around the philippines and the best way to promote biodiesel is to do it by your own, making your own fuel we have group of people who is building there own plant at their backyard. most of transport groups are hesitant to have biodiesel as a fuel because of poor imformation and the drive of our government is not so good unlike marikina city i got imformation that the city government is implementing the use of biodiesel blend. even at 1 percent is good enough although country like USA, France, Germany use 100% biodiesel or selling at blend 20%. if it true that marikina city mandate their transport such as diesel engine to use biodiesel blend it is welcome move cheers to marikina city... why wait for 2-3 years for jethropa plant to yeild oil seed to process it to biodiesel why make one for yourself a biodiesel processor first while planting jethropa in your backyard in the near future algae will be a big source of oil for biodiesel so the best is to make your own biodiesel processing a good quality biodiesel from available feed stock waste vegetable oil, copra meal oil and by product of virgin coconut oil such as grated meat (sapal)

biodiesel/cocdiesel are indeed an alternate fuel for petrodiesel we have a van an isuzu 240 engine 1986 model running at 100% biodiesel, toyota fx tamaraw running at 20 % blend of biodiesel, L300 a mitsubishi engine running at 5% blend pregio van running 5% blend and many others worh of advice if you are planning to use biodiesel for the first time you have to understand that biodiesel is a good solvent it will dissolve all wax deposite form from using the petrodiesel at your fuel tank, fuel line for the first two weeks or so you have to monitor the fuel filter status for possible glogging due to dissolve wax. it will be better to install first a dispossable fuel filter as back before your permanent fuel filter after this cleaning effect your tank will be clean after 2-3 weeks then you will be using biodiesel with possible fuel starvation due to fuel filter clogging the benefit will you can tell by yourself but the most effective is reduce smoke pollution and increase mileage. franklin b. del rosario

good news senate has passed the biofuel bill and it will be encated to law soon as expected. biodiesel will be in big demand and the demand for good quality biodiesel is necessary so hurry up be a brewer of biodiesel. when you enter on this process you have to consider the most important of all you must have good source of raw material from waste vegetable oil, waste coconut oil and vast track of land for jatropha seed and oil mill. this is the major requirement in having biodiesel plant. the equipment you can make it or buy this from different sources. but raw material you must create a good source. with out this source your biodiesel project will fail. just imagine to make your plant at break even a 1,000 liter per day must be your minimum out put and 1,000 liter is 5 drum of oil you building shall be a warehouse of 1500 sm or more for stocking biodiesel.remenber this is a break even scheem. if you have that source then go for it if not just be a hobbiest it will promote biodiesel. franklin b. del rosario

source of material for biodiesel to make biodiesel you have to look for good source of feed stock coconut oil is rich of oil in one hectare you can have almost 2,000 liter of oil every 90 days but problem of coconut is it is very expensive. if you can have a way of buying low cost material such as sapal, coconut meat extract from virgin oil processing it is a good source. waste vegetable oil is good but with limited supply because it is depended on the out put of big restaurant and your ability to collect wvo, many people are buying use cooking oil for recycling or reused as cooking oil. jatropha seed oil well we dont have abundant supply yet in large quantity. a hectar you can have 1,500 liter of oil in every 120 days there is a need of having oil mill for jatropha seed before it can be used as fuel there is a report of banana oil in davao but not so sure if it can be used as feed stock for biodiesel i got one sample and have it tested if can be used as feedstock we have a lot but just the same it need oil mill to extract these oil making biodiesel is easy and the hardest part is to find good source of oil "a lot of oil" just imagine 30,000 liter of oil a day to fuel 6,000 diesel engine at a blend of 5% BD5 is peanut if you consider the total requirement of diesel fuel in the whole Manila. if you want to engage in biodiesel processing better start oil mill first simple oil press will do

I would think the Phillipines would be full of excellent palm oil or other oil producing crops.
